I was more than a little confused the first time I heard about one of these. Human Book? What other kinds are there? It’s not like elephants have gotten into the publishing business, they don’t have fingers. Then I remembered that thing called ‘Internet’ and was enlightened.

Actually, human books are people, not paper bound volumes, that volunteer to share their life stories, as part of a program launched by the Human Library.

I haven’t had the opportunity to take out a living book yet, but I do love the concept. It reminds me that everyone has a unique and interesting story, and makes me appreciate what a rich, and diverse world we people (and the occasional elephant) live in.
