Apparently I have always harbored a weakness for really pretty clothes. One of my favorite books as child (after Cinderella for Obvious Reasons), The Queen Who Stole the Sky, is about a woman who cuts down the sky and turns it into a ball gown—her hem shimmering with golden stars and rose colored sunsets as she swishes across the dance floor.
Not only did I spend long periods of time admiring the beautiful frock portrayed in this book, wondering how it would look on my ten year old body, but the story also become the catalyst for my very first and suspicious similarly titled short story, the Queen Who Stole the Ocean.
Okay, so it wasn’t that original, but still, it did get me started writing and sometimes that is the most important step,
So thank you Queen, you inspired me then, and only continue to do so.

Dear Jackie,
I am the author of the Queen who Stole the Sky. I am so pleased that it inspired you. It has been out of print since 1999. I am a teacher and live in London, Uk. I still write, but it is a tough market. I am trying to get an agent at the moment. Thanks for making my day!
Jennifer
My pleasure! like I said, I really did and still do love this book…any agent would be lucky to have you! I can’t wait to see what you share with the world next…especially now that I have a little one of my own (though sadly he is not nearly as interested in starry gowns as I am). Thanks for the comment, that made my day too!
